On the last day of 2025, I reflected on my journey. I do it every year, and sometimes many times, to reorient myself. Last year was about acknowledging First Principles living by them organically. This year, and more often than I want to admit, it's questioning, “Am I doing the right thing?”

A life with meaning doesn’t happen all of a sudden. It’s cumulative. It begins with recognizing that First Principles exist and allowing them to shape how we move through the world. My compass check is simple: Is the world a better place for having been in it?

​

Like George Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life, when he’s shown how he made the world better. Not because he was trying to, but because it was who he was. He wasn’t performing goodness. He was aligned with it. First principles forced him to acknowledge who he truly was, and once he did, everything else fell into place.

​

None of us know what 2026 will bring, or how important our influence on it may be. But if first principles count (and I believe they do) then my only hope is that I have them right, and that every next step I take is based on that assumption.
